Pickleball Specialist

Step onto the courts this summer and turn the fastest-growing paddle sport into an unforgettable masterclass in confidence, athletic fundamentals, and teamwork. As our Pickleball Specialist at Willow Lake Day Camp, you will lead engaging, skill-building sessions across our three dedicated courts for campers of all ages and experience levels. You will design dynamic drills, organize spirited rallies and lead-up games, and mentor campers as they discover hand-eye coordination and positive sportsmanship. Working alongside enthusiastic group counselors, you will create a high-energy court culture where every child feels empowered to pick up a paddle and succeed. This role offers an exceptional hands-on coaching platform where you can elevate your leadership, communication, and sports management skills while making your summer count.

- Lead energetic, age-appropriate pickleball instruction for campers ages 3 through 15 across our two pickleball courts.- Design creative practice drills, lead-up games, and structured matches that teach fundamental paddle mechanics, footwork, and court positioning.- Collaborate with group counselors to facilitate smooth activity transitions, positive group dynamics, and individual camper encouragement.- Customize instructional strategies to engage every child, from first-time racket sport learners to older campers enrolled in Senior Camp sports electives.- Supervise court safety, manage equipment setup and storage, and maintain paddles, nets, and balls daily.- Champion the Willow Lake Dream Big core values by celebrating effort, sportsmanship, and personal growth on and off the court.

- Experience playing or coaching pickleball in recreational, school, or club settings.- Background working with children as a youth sports coach, camp counselor, educator, or recreation leader.- Demonstrated ability to break down athletic fundamentals into simple, fun, and accessible steps for young learners.- Proven track record of fostering positive peer encouragement and good sportsmanship.

- Strong passion for youth mentorship, athletic coaching, and active outdoor programming.- High-energy, warm, and approachable personality that inspires campers of all skill levels.- Clear communication skills and the ability to project positivity across an active court environment.- Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative team-player mindset.- Commitment to full summer seasonal availability from June 21 through August 13, 2027.

- High school diploma or equivalent; college students, recent graduates, and certified teachers or coaches strongly preferred.- Academic background or career interest in Physical Education, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Education, or Youth Development is a plus.

- Ability to stay active outdoors on athletic courts in various summer weather conditions throughout the camp day.- Physical mobility and agility to demonstrate strokes, footwork, serves, and interactive rallies.- Capability to lift, transport, and organize sports gear, court dividers, and ball carts.
