Trips off Camp

Adventures Beyond Our Campus

Our CIT program features a dynamic schedule that extends beyond our 35-acre campus. Each week, CITs head to a private cove on Lake Hopatcong for tubing excursions and boat rides led by our adult waterfront staff. In addition to these weekly trips, CITs participate in multiple out-of-camp adventures including a waterpark and community service opportunities.

The Pipeline to Staff Success

From CIT to Counselor: Real Skills for the Real World

The best counselors often start right here. We’re proud that a significant number of our seasonal staff members are graduates of our CIT program. This isn't just a summer experience – it’s the ultimate training ground for those who want to return and lead the next generation of the Willow Lake family.

Learning to lead a morning huddle and set the tone for the day.

Problem Solving

Navigating group dynamics and resolving challenges in real-time.

Active Listening

Mastering the art of understanding camper needs and peer feedback.

Responsibility

Managing a dynamic schedule and being a reliable role model.

Mentorship

Mentorship That Matters

Growth doesn't happen by accident. Our CITs are supervised by a dedicated professional educator – a Unit Leader whose sole focus is each CITs’ development. Through weekly, sincere feedback sessions, we help CITs identify their strengths and refine their leadership style, providing an authentic pre-professional experience you won't find anywhere else.
